Stears Haulage Ltd have obtained the Silver level of the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) in August 2016 and we are very proud of this achievement.
All our vehicles are fitted with audible left turn warning systems, relevant signage, additional blind spot minimisation mirrors/cameras on our HGV’s and sidebars on all our trailers. All of our drivers and office staff have completed the Vulnerable Road User Training in London which we found informative and a very worthwhile experience. Safety of our employees other road users is of primary importance to us as an organisation. A very important part of the scheme is the regular review process of current practices and to strive for continual improvement in relation to our safety procedures.
We have found that the majority of sites requesting FORS Silver accredited hauliers are located in central London which we have delivered to for our existing customers. Shortly we are due to start a large project to Cambridge requiring our FORS Silver certification and have had enquiries to deliver throughout the UK using FORS. This accreditation also allows us to deliver to sites that require CLOCS registered companies.
During our first 6 months of undertaking FORS Silver deliveries, we have delivered a variety of construction products from bricks and paving stones to housing developments and air conditioning/ventilation systems to central London. As you can see from the above picture an important requirement when delivering steel to large scale construction sites in London is trailers with goal posts and safety rails connecting each stanchion. This greatly assists in keeping individuals safe when offloading the goods.
